Dr Mark Hay is the CHE Executive Director: Quality Assurance.

Before joining the CHE, Dr Hay was an audit director at the Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) and previously was Director of Institutional Audits at the CHE. Dr Hay holds a BTh (Honours) from the Urban University in Rome, a Licentiate in Theology from the Gregorian University, both in Rome, and a professional doctorate from the Catholic Theological Union at Chicago. He worked as an academic for ten years in a private theological higher education institution, including head of department and management responsibilities. He also has private sector experience in change management. Mark has international experience of national quality assurance systems for higher education. His responsibilities have included international liaison and assisting in the development of contextually integrated national quality assurance systems.

Dr Hay has authored a book on social reconciliation in transitional societies, co-authored a book on understanding reconciliation and co-authored a book on ecology and theology.
