As of January 2010, there were also
78 registered and 22 provisionally registered private higher education institutions.

- the public higher education institutions awarded:

- 31 872 qualifications in business and commerce
- 37 772 qualifications in science and technology
- 63 525 qualifications in the human and social sciences
- the public higher education institutions produced:
- 7 514 master's degrees
- 1 182 doctoral degrees
