Lerato S Matubatuba joined CHE as Deputy Director: Higher Education Quality Committee Information System (HEQCIS) in January 2010. He comes to manage the process of Private Higher Education Institutions (PHEI) and brings extensive experience in the higher education sector. He managed several university assessment departments the latest being the University of Johannesburg.
Lerato saw and was instrumental in the merge/incorporation of RAU, Technikon Witwatersrand, and two Vista University campuses. Lerato has an extensive experience in the financial sector and worked for several banking institutions during the time when South African banking sector was automated.
Lerato has a B.Com(Ed) degree and majored in Accounting, Business Management and Education with the then University of Transkei, now Walter Sisulu University of Technology.
