On 23 September 2005, the HEQC hosted a workshop on Examining Quality Promotion and Capacity Development at Institutional and National Level at the Tshwane University of Technology in Pretoria. The Tshwane University of Technology made available its facilities for the Workshop and provided hospitality to the participants.

The workshop was attended by about 60 representatives from CHE/HEQC, different higher education institutions and the Australian Pro-Vice Chancellors, Prof. Geoff Scott, Gail Hart and Sharon Bell.

Dr Mark Hay of the HEQC gave a summary of the findings of the HEQC Research on Quality Promotion and Capacity Development. Ms Barbara Morrow of HEQC discussed the National Quality Promotion and Capacity Development activities in South Africa.

Prof. Gail Hart said that the HEQC as a national quality assurance agency has rightly prioritised Quality Promotion and Capacity Development in its suite of activities. She is also very impressed with the HEQC resources available to strength national and institutional quality assurance capacity.
