The Higher Education Quality Committee launched its accreditation system online with two demonstration sessions held at the University of Pretoria on 14 and 15 June 2005. The first session was attended by private providers of higher education and the second was attended by public higher education institutions.

The sessions consisted of a presentation by Dr Lis Lange on the general design and conceptualisation of HEQC-online and a demonstration of the application online which will be used from now on by all institutions to apply for accreditation of their programmes within the HEQC new accreditation system.

Each session was attended by approximately 60 participants who had an opportunity to ask questions about the online system as well as about the new accreditation system.

Mr Tshepo Magabane, Acting Deputy Director of the Accreditation Directorate welcomed the participants on the session for private providers of higher education on 14 June 2005.

Dr Mala Singh, Executive Director of the HEQC, opened the session on the 15^th of June, situating the online system in the context of the work of the HEQC, and thanking the HEIs who had participated in the testing and piloting of the system.
