Introduction
The workshops held on 7 October at Tshwane University of Technology, on 10 October at the Durban Institute of Technology as well as on 11 October at the Walter Sisulu University were part of a series of three regional workshops, aimed at promoting student involvement in quality assurance structures in the Higher Education Institutions.
Four case studies of student participation in various quality assurance processes were presented. An interesting feature about this workshop was that it managed to get students, quality assurance officers and student affairs officers together to talk about quality assurance.
Some of the presentations were done by students. The presentations reflected their views on various aspects of quality in higher education. Dr JP Patil from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India, also presented a paper on the involvement of students in quality assurance processes in India.
Seven institutions were represented including University of Johannesburg, University of Limpopo, University of North West, Central University of Technology, Tshwane University of Technology, University of Pretoria and University of Free State.
